Understanding the P&L sheet


An important knowledge area of managers and business leaders is how to interpret a P&L sheet to assist them in making key business decisions and to understand the business performance; where it is succeeding and where there are challenges.

A P&L is a financial report that provides a summary of a company’s revenues, expenses, and profits/losses over a given period of time and shows a company’s ability to generate sales, manage expenses and create profits. This half-day workshop is designed for senior managers who do not have a financial background and need to develop a stronger understand of how to interpret financial information.

After this workshop you will have a sound understanding of how the numbers co-relate to each other to drive the bottom line:

Know how the numbers are collated and where they come from
Be able to investigate overspends, revenue & gross profit shortfalls
Be able to compare data and reports
Be able to identify potential risks or areas of concern and ask the right questions in respect to Gross Profit, EBIDT, Expenses, etc.

Following a successful 23 year corporate career in Coles Myer Henry was responsible for growing a WA household name retail chain from 12 to 60 stores, strategically positioning the brand as value priced destination. Establishing a culture that focused on employee development, outcome focused teams driving efficiencies and succession planning, the organisation boasted unprecedented staff retention levels.

Henry has built and led many cross functional teams and will work with you to identify opportunities and gaps in all areas of your business, developing strategy, plans, processes & workshops to ensure teams & individual employee is aligned to achieve the business goals.
